Frances M. Bougie, age 82, of 616 North 19th Street, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at her home.
Frances was born February 5, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Caron) Bussineau. When she was 4 years old, the family moved to the Flat Rock area in Delta County. She attended grade school in Flat Rock and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1944. Upon graduation, she worked for the City of Escanaba, as a meter reader for 3 years. She married George E. Bougie on April 19, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In 1961 she resumed work with the City of Escanaba, in the utility department, as a billing clerk, until her retirement in 1989.
Frances was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and her church family was an important part of her life. She belonged to the St. Thomas Guild, was a member of the choir and a Eucharist minister.
Frances enjoyed doing things for her family and baby-sitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked music and playing her guitar. When she was young, she learned how to play musical instruments from her father and played in the W.P.A Stringed Band.
Frances loved to play cards, working puzzle books and writing letters, in addition she also enjoyed sending out cards, for different occasions, to family and friends. At family gatherings and parties, she most always had her camera and took pictures.

2 Daughters-in-law: Karen Bougie of Escanaba; Julie Bougie of Escanaba
Numerous nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George in 1986, son Daniel in 1998, son Gary in 2004, grandson Douglas Bougie in 1975 and a brother Gerald in 2000.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow services in the parish hall. Frances will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Frances’ name may be directed to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
