Doniver A. “Don” Bjorklund, age 69, of 915 Montana Avenue, Gladstone passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 1, 2009.

Don was born August 2, 1939 in Escanaba to Alvin and Ruby (Lindquist) Bjorklund. He was raised in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1957. Following high school Don attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. He graduated on June 5, 1961, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Don was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. He was a member of the church choir and assisted with the finances of the church. He was a secretary of the Gladstone Swedish Club as well as the Gladstone Lions Club, the President of Remnants Barbershop Chorus, and a member of the Gladstone Yacht Club. Don also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Don was a patient, loyal, kind and giving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

2 Daughters: Janina Hagen of Arlington, Virginia; Gayle Primozich of Minnetonka, Minnesota
1 Son: Eric (Lana) Bjorklund of West Bend, Wisconsin
4 Grandchildren: Chloe, Sophia, Jacob and Josie
1 Brother: Alden (Janet) Bjorklund of Forrest Lake, Minnesota
2 nieces and 1 nephew
Special cousin and friend: Jolane (Andy) Nelson of Gladstone,
Several cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Waldo.

The Bjorklund family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Pastor Jonathan Schmidt officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following services in the church fellowship hall. Don will be laid to rest in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. Memorial contributions in Don’s name may be directed to the First Lutheran Church.
