Rose Pilon

Rose A. Pilon, 95, of 10039 KK Road, Isabella, passed away Saturday morning May 30, 2009 at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique where she was a resident.

Rose was born December 24, 1913 in Nahma, MI the daughter of Oliver and Mary (Turan) Gouin. Rose was raised in Nahma and married Albert Pilon on August 3, 1935 in Garden, MI. They made their home in Isabella where they raised their 3 children on the family farm.

Rose was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society and as a Eucharistic Minister. Rose enjoyed working in her garden, playing cards and bingo, and going to the casino. She also enjoyed baking and she was well known for her Jelly Rolls and Head Cheese. In her younger years she enjoyed ice fishing with her husband Albert.

2 sons:
Richard (Lorilie) Pilon of Isabella
John (Susan) Pilon of Escanaba
daughter: LaVerda Nelson of Isabella
brother; John Gouin of Galesburg, MI
7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband Albert on March 22, 1992. Infant daughter, Rosemary, 10 brothers, Joe, Chuck, Frank, Bill, Richard, Jim, Hank, Edward, Albert and Bob. 1 sister, Marie Johnson.

Rose’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Nahma with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski and Rev. Fr. Joseph Gouin officiating. Burial will follow at the Moss Lake Cemetery. Luncheon will follow committal services at the Isabella Township Hall. The family of Rose Pilon would like to thank the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility staff for their excellent care and compassion for their mother.
