Fredrick Jacques

Fredrick William “Fred” Jacques, 80, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Fayette, Michigan to Joseph and Anna (Quinn) Jacques. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a sprinkler-fitter for 40 years and a member of the Local 669 Sprinkler and Pipe-fitters Union and a member of the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.

Fred married the former Joyce Roberts on Nov. 18, 1950 at the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. They lived in Washington, Michigan for 20 years then moved back to the Gladstone area where they lived for almost 40 years.

Fred loved the outdoors. He enjoyed planting gardens, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed history and country music and the special times he shared with his family.

Fred Jacques survivors include:

his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce;

one son Mike (Jeanne) of Gladstone,

eight daughters, Victoria (Pat) Lippens of Green Bay, WI; Gloria (Greg) Castillo of Racine, WI; Linda (Harold) Dickerson of Rock; Becky Jacques of Gladstone; Mary (Dale) Bellefeuil of Bark River; Donna (Bruce) Deno of Flat Rock; Christina (Dan) Nault of Howell, MI; Nicole (Paul) Beauchamp of Lansing MI

25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Fred is also survived by two sisters, Joanne (George) Blakesley of Rockford, Illinois and Audrey Attaway of California. Also surviving are special long-time friends, Francis (Rose) Beauchamp of Flat Rock. 

In addition to his parents and his parents-in-law, Ernest and Eugenie Roberts, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers: Ernest, Leo, John, and Bob and by a sister Geretha Severinsen.

The family of Fred W. Jacques will receive family and friends on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Rev. Fr. Joseph Maramattam officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the church parish hall. Burial will be in the Escanaba Township Cemetery in Flat Rock at 11:00 a.m. where Military Rites will be conducted by the Delta County Veterans Council. The Skradski-Boyce Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Jacques family.
