Elmer R. White, age 80, of 9184 Co. 513 T Road, Rapid River, passed away Tuesday evening June 23, 2009, at the South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Florida.

Elmer was born August 7, 1928, in Farmington, MI, the son of Elmer O. And Esther (Maahs) White. He was raised in Farmington and attended the Farmington schools. On July 10, 1948 Elmer was united in marriage to the former Naoma Grinstead at the Brightmore Tabernacle Church in Detroit. Together, Elmer and Naoma began their family and resided in Whitmore Lake, MI. In 1961, Elmer and Naoma relocated to Gladstone where Elmer owned and operated White’s Bayshore Resort, in Kipling, until his retirement at the age of 49. Over the years, Elmer and Naoma enjoyed spending the winter months in Plant City, FL always to return to their home in Rapid River for the summer season. Elmer was a member of the Grace Church in Gladstone. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

4 Grandchildren: Kris (Mark), Amy (Matt), Jennifer (Jim) and Kimberly

6 Great Grandchildren: Zach, Dustin, Aiden, Callum, Haley and Dylana

Elmer’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Grace Church in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Elmer R. White will follow visiting hours, at 3:00PM, at the Grace Church, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Patrick officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Grace Church Fellowship Hall. Committal will take place at the Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the White family with arrangements.
