Helen Marie Finlay, age 84, of 1620 9th Avenue South, Escanaba, passed away Monday morning July 6, 2009, at the Christian Park Village, where she has resided for the past 3 ? years. 
 
Helen was born April 10, 1925, in Escanaba, the daughter of Bernard J. and Josephine (Roy) McLaughlin.  She was raised in Escanaba and attended the Escanaba School System.  Following school, Helen was united in marriage to Walter Everett Hougland.  Walter preceded Helen in death.  On August 11, 1962, Helen was joined in marriage to Francis Finlay at the St. Peter’s Cathedral in Marquette.  Together Helen and Francis made their home and raised their family, in Escanaba, where Helen worked primarily as a homemaker.  Helen was a former member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching game shows and camping.  In addition, Helen enjoyed her pets and spending time with her family.

2 Sons:  Walter Hougland of Escanaba, MI; David (Nooney) Finlay of Tampa, FL

1 Brother:  Roy McLaughlin of Marquette, MI

1 Niece:  Zoe Miron

Helen’s family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba.  Closing prayers will be conducted at 6:00PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba.
