Francis Sarasin

Frances M. Sarasin “Fran” “Mic”, age 73, of 6330 South 8th Street in Wells passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at her home.

Fran was born in Butterfield Township in Michigan on July 4, 1936, the daughter of Warren and Doris (Heric) Wade. Fran’s family moved to the Rapid River area when she was around the age of ten and she eventually graduated from Rapid River High School in 1954. Fran married Sgt. Charles Gordon “Sonny” Sarasin on November 9, 1968. Charles was a career military man in the United States Army and was last stationed at Fort Campbell, KY with Fran. Charles passed away suddenly on October 30, 1975 and shortly thereafter Fran returned to the Upper Peninsula, particularly the Wells area where she lived the remainder of her life. Fran was longtime time, faithful member of the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. She was very active serving on the church Board of Trustees, the Charity Circle, funeral luncheon committees, pastie making committee, Lunch with the Pastor, Loving Fingers Quilting Group, OSF Hospice Program and numerous other church functions. She also enjoyed making bread, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

Fran is survived by:

Her loving daughter, Doris Sarasin of Appleton, WI

Her brother, Don (Lexie) Wade of Marysville, MI

Her sisters, Blanche Johnson of Ensign, MI and Dalene Benson of Escanaba

Sister-In-Law: Barb Reid of Rockford, IL

Numerous nieces and nephews

Her grand dog, Jasper

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers George Wade of Albion, MI and Ed Wade of Escanaba

The Sarasin family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Scott Harmon officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow services in the church fellowship hall. Fran will be laid to rest next to her husband, Charles in the Rapid River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the Sarasin family gratiously requests the memorial contibtuions in Fran’s name be directed to the Central United Methodist Church.
