Paula S. Smith, age 57, of 9880 Hwy US 2; Rapid River (Ensign Township), passed away Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. Paula has been in failing health for a number of years.
Paula was born November 10th, 1951, to James and Lorna (Stannard) Daniels in Flint, Michigan and she was raised in Clio, attended the Clio School System and graduated June 7th1969. Paula was united in marriage to Jack R. Smith on June 14th, 1969. They have lived in Clio, Montrose and the Mt. Morris areas of Lower Michigan. General Motors was her primary source of employment for a number of years until an injury that she sustained at G.M. forced her to retire from there. Paula also had obtained a degree in cosmetology and was a licensed beautician in the Flint area for a time.
Paula and Jack permanently moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1990.
Her family, especially her grandchildren, were a special source of pride and joy for Paula and she attended and appreciated the Rapid River Congregational Church.

Grandchildren-Cody and Miranda Morris; Khody, Wyatt, Damyn, and Grady Smith; Paige, Kailey, and Leondrea Vietzke; Daylie, Joseph,Jr. and Creighton Smith; Aerianna, Quenna, and Brielle Spriks
a sister, Dawn (Anthony) Harper of Rapid River,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Paula S. Smith will receive friends on Saturday at the Congregational Church in Rapid River from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. Services celebrating her life will follow on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational Church with Rev. William Rafuse officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. The Skradski-Boyce Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Smith family.
