Eugenia was born April 17, 1923, near Krakow, Poland, the daughter of the late Frank Franciszek “Frank” Satula and Wiktoria “Victoria” Piskouz.

Eugenia lived in Poland until her latter teens and was employed as a factory worker. While in Poland, she was arrested as a possible Anti-German sympathizer for being out on the streets after curfew. She spent the next six weeks in a concentration camp. Following her release, Eugenia was transferred to Germany where she worked as a farmhand and a Polish/German interpreter. After WWII, Eugenia was sent to France to work for the United States Army as a hospital worker. While in France, she met and married Everett Wils. The couple soon boarded a ship to the United States and arrived in Rapid River in April of 1946. Eugenia and Everett owned and operated a farm north of Rapid River where they raised dairy and beef cattle. The couple remained on the farm for forty eight years. In 1994, they sold the farm and moved to Gladstone. Eugenia enjoyed gardening, crocheting and knitting. She won several blue ribbons, at Escanaba’s U.P. State Fair, for making quilts and afghans.
