Dorothy Dawley, age 99, of the Days River Road area in Gladstone passed away on Thursday evening, October 8, 2009 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba where she was currently a resident.
Dorothy was born June 26, 1910 in Oxford, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Ella Maude (Sutfin) Brooks. Dorothy was united in marriage to the late Henry Dawley. They shared a union of nearly 60 years together. Dorothy enjoyed flowers and feeding animals and birds, especially humming birds. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends.
Dorothy’s family would like to offer a special thank you to Mary Soderman and the staff at Soderman’s Adult Foster Care for their kind and gracious manner taking care of mom for the last few years.

2 Sons: Ray (Diane) Dawley of Brampton, MI; Ron (Dianna) Dawley of Gladwin, MI
1 Daughter: Sharon (Paul) Hockin of Jackson, Mississippi
7 Grandchildren: Rod (Jodi), Heather, Jeff (Kristie), Chris (Melba), Brian (Schaine), Brett (Brooks), and Dana (Keith)

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in December of 1985, her son Donald in November of 1997, two brothers Clinton and Timothy Brooks, her sister Flossie Frick and a granddaughter Rhonda Dawley.
Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Monday, October 12 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. William Rafuse officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Andersonville Cemetery in Clarkston, Michigan. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
