Elsie M. Bingham, age 91, of 9228 EE 25 Road, Rapid River (St. Jacques), passed away Tuesday afternoon January 19, 2010, at the Christian Park Health Care Facility where she has resided for the past 7 years.

Elsie was born November 24, 1918, in Humboldt Township (near Marquette), the daughter of Daniel and Flora (Kallatsa) Arpiainen. She was raised in Humboldt and attended the Humboldt schools. On October 20, 1940, Elsie was united in marriage to Harley J. Bingham Sr. and together the couple made their home and raised their family in the St. Jacques area.

Survivors include:

2 Sons: Harley “Ray” (Chris) Bingham of Nevada; Robert (Ann) Bingham of Rapid River, MI

1 Daughter: Kaleen (Bob) Rodgers of Two Rivers, WI

2 Brothers: Norman (Barb) Arpiainen of Clarksburg, MI; Raymond Arpiainen of Clarksburg, MI

2 Sisters: Helen Tammelin of Negaunee, MI

Evelyn (Henry) Chynoweth of Ishpeming, MI

Additional survivors include, 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; Daniel and Flora, husband; Harley on October 5, 1990, son; Ronald in 1982, sisters; Eva, Martha and Violet and her brothers; Art, Carl and Wilhoe.

Elsie’s family will receive friends on Saturday, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Elsie M. Bingham will follow visiting hours, at 6:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, with Minister David Grant of the Escanaba Church of Christ officiating. Elsie will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski Funeral Homes of Delta County are in care of arrangements.
