Clifford L D’Arcy, age 80 was called to the lord on January 18th, 2010. He died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family.
He was born March 30th, 1929 in Chicago, IL to the late Charlie and Mary (Hermeck) D’Arcy. Cliff was in the Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 49 years as a representative for the Federal Government as a Quality Assurance Rep. Before coming to the U.P. he was a chemist for Wright Patterson Air Force. On July 3rd 1954, he was united in marriage to Patricia Rodgers.
Cliff was an avid outdoorsman enjoying the time he spent hunting and fishing with his buddies, son Daniel and grandkids. Cliff was a diehard Chicago Bears fan, as well as the Cubs and Bulls. He’d enjoy giving anyone a hard time when “da Bears” would dominate the Packers and Lion’s. Cliff was active and well respected in the community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Cliff was actively involved in Bay de Noc Great Lakes Sports fisherman Inc., Wildlife Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, Gladstone Braves Fan Club, Gladstone Yacht Club, and U.P. Whitetails. Cliff also held seats on the city and county Planning Commissions, member of the American Legions, Rotary Club and Lions Club.
Left to Cherish his memories are the love of his life, wife of 56 years Pat, daughters: Beth (Jamie) Best, Diane (John) Smedley, Nancy (Kevin) Malone, his son; Daniel (Traci). Grandchildren: Jay Best, Nicole, Andy and Michael Smedley, Bella and Holden D’Arcy. His sister Yvonne D’Arcy and brother Tom D’Arcy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson Hunter D’Arcy.
Cliff’s family will receive friends on Thursday January 21, 2010 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Clifford L. D’Arcy will follow at 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Jerome Kingsbury officiating.
