Harvey E. Green, 88, of 2511 So. 21st St. Escanaba, MI, passed away Jan 28, 2010 at Marquette General Hospital.
He was born April 22, 1921 in Buhl, MN, and was the son of Benjamin and Edith Green. He leaves behind his wife Rosa M. Green and his two sons Alex and John Green. Also, his two grandchildren Alyssa and Michael.
Harvey lived a full life and found the best in everyone. Harvey graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Harvey went on, and was very proud, to have served his country in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lt. Col from the Air Force Reserves. He first served in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. He also retired as commander of the Thunder Bay Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol in 1973.
Harvey began working for North Central Air Lines in 1950 in Hibbing, MN, before transferring to Alpena, MI where he worked from 1960-1973. He then transferred to Escanaba where he retired from Republic Airlines in 1983. He was an avid Gophers and Vikings fan. In his later years he became a regular at the Donut Connection and had some spirited conversations there with friends. He loved occupying his time with genealogy research.
Harvey’s family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church 2530 14th Ave So. Escanaba, MI. Memorial services will continue, at 3:00PM, at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church, with Pastor Lewis Hague officiating.
