Amy Lynn Chenier Kositzke, age 32, of 1620 Dakota Avenue; Gladstone passed away early on Saturday morning, January 2nd, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a five year illness with an inoperable brain tumor.
Amy was born February 7th, 1977 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Nancy (Carlson) Chenier and at age three, she and her family moved to the Flat Rock area of Delta County and was raised there. Following her graduation from Gladstone High School in 1995, Amy continued her studies at Northern Michigan University in Marquette where she received her BA Degree in Special Education in 1999. She subsequently obtained a Masters Degree in Special Education in 2001 from NMU. For the previous nine years, Amy was engaged as a special education teacher at the Middle School in Gladstone. Amy is fondly remembered as loving her profession and the children so aptly served.
Amy enjoyed the outdoors which included her love of hiking and rock-collecting. Photography was another past-time in which she took great pleasure.
Amy loved her faith and was a devout Roman Catholic and was currently a member of St. Anne Church in Escanaba and a member of “Yahweh’s Yoopers”. A number of years ago, she also taught CCD at All Saints Church in Gladstone and has always loved working with the youth of her Church, which included attending a number of youth conferences. Her love of the Lord has sustained her during her life and this has also been a source of consolation with her passing to eternal life.

her loving and devoted husband, Todd, whom she was united in marriage on November 29, 2008 by Amy’s brother, Fr. Mike Chenier;
her parents, Frank and Nancy Chenier, of Flat Rock,
two stepsons, Joshua and Jacob Kositzke both of Selbyville, Delaware,
one brother, Rev. Fr. Michael Chenier of Menominee,
two sisters, Michelle (Jim) Becker of Bozeman, Montana; Angela Chenier of Bozeman, Montana
a niece, Elizabeth Becker, and a nephew, Ian Becker.
and a maternal grandmother, Elvira Carlson of Gladstone.
The family of Amy Lynn Chenier Kositzke will receive friends on Tuesday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at St. Anne Church in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Francis DeGroot and Rev.Fr. Michael Chenier officiating. Luncheon will follow Mass in the St. Anne Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Escanaba Township Cemetery; Flat Rock.
