Edward A. King, age 70, of 6982 M Road, Escanaba, passed away Tuesday February 16, 2010 at the Marquette General Hospital, following complications of a heart attack.

Edward was born September 11, 1939, in Escanaba, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Martinson) King. He was raised in the Escanaba and Rapid River areas and was a 1957 graduate of the Rapid River Senior High School. In the Fall of 1958, Ed enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1958 until his retirement in 1978. Following his retirement, Ed relocated to California where he remained until 1992. At which time, Ed returned to Escanaba. On March 6, 1993, he was united in marriage to the former Arlene LaRose, in Gladstone. Ed is remembered for his love of life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be deeply missed by his loving family.

1 Sister: Lois (Ron) Kern of Escanaba, MI

2 Step Sons: William Tardiff of Rapid River, MI; James (Sally) Tardiff of Gladstone, MI

1 Step Daughter: Kathleen Tardiff of Soo Hill, MI

Also listed among the surviving family are 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred, Brother, Matthew and Sister, Anita Jamison.

Edward’s family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00PM to 5:45PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military rites will be conducted, at 5:45PM, by the Delta County Veteran’s Council. Funeral services celebrating the life of Edward A. King will follow military rites, at 6:00PM, with Rev. Jonathan Schmidt and Rev. Jean Schmidt officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral services. Messages of condolence to the King family may be left by using the form below.
