Joan F. Wentworth, age 81, of 8637 South Lakeside T.5 Drive; Rapid River (Maywood Shores) passed away on Wednesday morning February 17th, 2010 at the Sunny Shores Adult Foster Care in Gladstone where she was a patient for approximately one month.
Joan was born in Highland Park, Michigan to Carlos and Kathleen (Shields) Meyers on September 23rd, 1928 and was raised in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
After graduating Wauwatosa East High School, Joan attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a BA Degree in Social Welfare. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and also obtained a Masters Degree in Social Welfare and Joan was employed in her field for many years as a social worker for the State of Wisconsin until her retirement.
Joan took pleasure in cross-stitching as a past-time, however, her love of family and the special enjoyment of grandchildren were paramount to her.
Additionally, for a number of years, she and her husband, Richard, were fond of wintering in Florida. Joan was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her husband, Richard D. Wentworth, whom she married September 17th, 1991 in Wauwatosa, Joan Wentworth’s survivors include:
One Son- Kurt (Julie) Nolte of Georgia,
One Daughter, Kathleen Bennett (Robert Hanus) of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and by
six grandchildren, Duncan, Ian, and Griffin Bennett; and Connor, Lauren, and Evan Nolte.
The family of Joan Wentworth will receive friends on Friday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Service celebrating Joan’s life will follow on Friday at 9:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Roe of the Memorial United Methodist Church officiating.
