Gloria Purcell age 88 of 1713 Michigan Avenue passed away on Saturday July 31, 2010 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

Gloria was born May 10, 1922 in Escanaba, the daughter of Roy and Ebba (Edmark) Cartwright and was raised in Delta County. Gloria married James L. Purcell in 1962 and he preceded her in death July 11th, 1989. Gloria was employed as waitress at Vaughn’s Dinner, Marco’s Restaurant, and the Stone House Restaurant all located in Escanaba. Gloria enjoyed cooking, going to the casino, and most importantly spending time with her family and grandchildren.

5 Daughters - Sharon (Donald) Calouette of Gladstone; Linda (Edwin) Bruce of Arnold; Susan (Dale) Vorac of Grand Rapids; Gloria (Warren) Brown of Perkins; Kristine (Joe) Kirchgatter of Hinckley, MN

2 Brothers -   Roy (Roxanne) Cartwright of Soo Hill; Raymond (Joyce) Cartwright

4 Sisters -      June Royer of Escanaba; Ardis (John) Anderson of Escanaba; Renelle (Hal) Hill of Texas; Elaine LaPine of DePere, WI

numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, James, she was preceded in death by a son, Peter Richards on June 7th, 1976 and by a brother, Leonard Cartwright. 

Upon Gloria Purcell’s request, private visitation and funeral services for family will be held on Thursday at the Skradski Home in Gladstone.
