Herbert “Bud” Ryan, age 95, of Gladstone passed away Thursday morning, July 22, 2010 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

Herbert was born December 7, 1914 in Escanaba, the son of Edward and Edna (Hazen) Ryan. Herbert married Pauline Pierce and together they shared a union that lasted for over 65 years. Herbert was a hardworker. He worked as a maintenance man for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for many years until his retirement. Herbert was also a longtime member of the All Saints Catholic Church and served his country proudly as a veteran of the United States Army.

Four grandchildren, Fred (Linda) Calouette, Mark (Sandy) Calouette, Debbie Calouette and Todd (Jill) Calouette

His brother, Pete Ryan of Wisconsin

Three sisters, Mary McGrath of Escanaba, MI, Marge Peterson of Gladstone, MI and Arvella
Numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas Ryan, two sisters, Jean and Eleanor and three brothers, Frank, Edward and John.

Herbert’s family will receive friends on Friday, July 30 from 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military rites will be conducted by the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71 at 4:15 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5:00 PM at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Father Arnold Grambow officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following services in the church fellowship hall. Herbert will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.
