Margie Maxine “Max” King, age 80, of 19 Mapleview Drive; Gladstone passed away Saturday, August 28th, 2010 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
Margie was born February 28th, 1930 in Nyota, Alabama to Fred and Wilma (Cannon) Patterson and was raised in Alabama. In her latter teenage years, together with her older sister, she moved to Detroit and subsequently to New Jersey where she was employed for DuPont Corporation for a period of time. Margie permanently relocated to Delta County after living in Indiana for some time. She was united in marriage to James E. King, Sr. on March 9th, 1964 in Chicago and he survives and they have lived in the Gladstone area since 1971.
Margie was a member of the Grace Church, and sewing, quilting, and cooking where some of her favorite past-times.
In addition to her loving husband, Jim, Margie Maxine’s King’s survivors include:
One daughter, Wilma (“Spanky”) Spangler of Georgia,
Two step-sons, James (Laura) King, Jr. of Escanaba; Raymond (Brenda) King of the Flat Rock area of Escanaba Twp.,
Two step-daughters, Donna (Jerry) Eis of Escanaba; Debbie (Bob) McIntyre of Newaygo, MI,
Three sisters, Martha Mae Meeks of New Chicago, Indiana; Evie Reid of Valparaiso, Indiana; Mavis (Willard) Reno of Portage, Indiana.
She also leaves to survive numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Winfred Patterson and Walter Ellis Patterson and by a sister, Myrtle Warrick.
The family of Margie Maxine King will receive friends on Tuesday at the SkradskiFuneral Home in Gladstone from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services celebrating her life will follow at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen Patrick of the Grace Church officiating. Luncheon will follow service in the Grace Church Fellowship Hall.
